Rental Conditions

Everything you need to know before your Patagonia adventure. No surprises.

Pick-up & Drop-offLocation & Timing

Our base is in Llanquihue, 15 minutes from Puerto Varas. Pick-up and drop-off in other cities is subject to availability and may include one-way fees and additional costs. Pick-up includes a full 45-minute camper briefing. Please plan accordingly.

Delivery & collection fees — per city, per event

The following fees apply in each city where pick-up or drop-off takes place. They do not include one-way fees or other charges that may apply when operating outside our base.

Pick-up or drop-off outside Puerto Varas / Llanquihue depends on vehicle availability and may include one-way fees. Contact us before booking to confirm options and costs for your route.

⏰ Timing

  • Pick-up briefing: 45 minutes — please don't be late
  • Maximum return time: 16:00 hrs
  • Final inspection at return: 25 minutes
  • Late return (after 16:30): charged as one additional rental day

Additional drivers

Additional drivers must meet the same requirements (25+, Class B, 5+ years) and must be declared to Yeti Campers before the rental begins. Undeclared drivers are not covered by insurance.

International license

Foreign drivers should carry their national license. An international driving permit (IDP) is recommended for non-Latin-American license holders but is not strictly required under Chilean law.

Important: If any information provided is false, Yeti Campers may terminate the contract immediately with no refund.

Payment schedule

  • 50% deposit required to confirm the booking
  • Balance (50%) due at vehicle pick-up — cash, debit, or credit card

Cancellation policy

  • More than 60 days before: 50% refund
  • Less than 60 days before: no refund
  • Cancellations must be communicated in writing

Security DepositCLP $2,000,000

A CLP $2,000,000 credit card pre-authorization is required at pick-up. The card must have this amount available as available credit.

Refund timeline

The deposit is refunded in full within 48 hours of return, if there are no damages or outstanding charges. The deposit is not the maximum liability — damages exceeding this amount remain the renter's responsibility.

Accident deductible

CLP $1,000,000 per incident, payable by the renter.

Camper module

Insured up to $12,000,000. Any damage exceeding this is the renter's responsibility.

Optional: Windshield & tires insurance — CLP $290,000
Covers windshield replacement and tire damage for the duration of the rental. Highly recommended for Carretera Austral routes.

🇦🇷 Argentina insurance — mandatory

Driving into Argentina requires additional insurance at CLP $25,000/day, arranged before departure. Deductible: $2,000,000. Theft of the truck or camper module in Argentina is not covered.

Fuel & Return ConditionsHow to return the camper

Fuel policy — full to full

The camper is delivered with a full tank. It must be returned with a full tank. Missing fuel is charged at CLP $2,500/liter.

Return checklist

  • Fuel tank: full
  • Interior & exterior: clean (fee: up to $150,000 if not)
  • Portable toilet: empty and clean (fee: up to $300,000 if not)
  • All equipment: complete and undamaged per the inventory list
  • Vehicle documents: returned to Yeti Campers

Maintenance on the road

Check oil and coolant levels every 1,000 km. Any maintenance over CLP $30,000 must be authorized by Yeti Campers beforehand and documented with a workshop receipt showing the license plate. Unauthorized repairs are not reimbursed.

Crossing to ArgentinaPermitted zones & conditions

✓ Permitted zone

Travel is allowed between Puerto Natales and Villa La Angostura, without going further from Chile than Route 40. The permit must be arranged before departure.

What you need

  • Argentina travel permit — arranged by Yeti Campers
  • Argentina insurance: CLP $25,000/day (mandatory)
  • Declare exact number of days in Argentina before departure
  • Vehicle must return to Chile under any circumstances

⚠️ Important limitations

Theft of the truck or camper module in Argentina is not covered by insurance. Driving at night in Argentina is extremely dangerous — strongly discouraged. Failure to return the vehicle to Chile entitles Yeti Campers to charge 100% of the security deposit.

🚫

Prohibited Areas & ProhibitionsDriving restrictions

Driving in prohibited areas voids all insurance coverage and may result in immediate contract termination with no refund.

Provinces of Malleco, Cautín and Arauco

No insurance of any kind operates in these provinces.

Fire or natural disaster alert zones

Any area under alert declared by ONEMI/SENAPRED.

Off-road and water crossings

No river crossings, streams, wetlands, beaches, dunes, or coastlines. Roads with closed gates or barriers are strictly off-limits.

Outside permitted Argentina zone

Any area beyond Route 40 or outside the Puerto Natales–Villa La Angostura corridor.

Other prohibitions

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Towing or pushing other vehicles
  • Unauthorized drivers
  • Any paid transport or commercial use
  • Subletting or transferring use to third parties
  • Modifications or repairs without Yeti Campers' authorization
